(E-SKRIPSI) AN ANALYSIS OF LEARNING ENGLISH VOCABULARY FOR HEARING IMPAIRED STUDENT AT DHARMA BAKTI DHARMA PERTIWI SPECIAL SCHOOL 2017/2018
The objectives of this research were to know how hearing impaired
students learn English vocabulary including the way of acquiring the word.
The hearing impaired students are totally different to normal students in
learning vocabularies. They need a long time and more steps to acquire
the word.
In this study, I used case study qualitative research. The aim of this
method was to investigate each phenomena or person behaviour and also
explore it in detail. It was also used to obtain the truthful evidence in giving
explanation about the hearing impaired students in learning English
vocabulary. The research was done at the tenth grade of hearing impaired
students at Dharma Bhakti Dharma Pertiwi Special School that consisted
seven students. To gather the data, I did observation instrument. The data
was analysed by transcribing each phenomenon happened in several
paragraph.
The result of this research showed that when I observed the learning
activity related to English lesson. I saw that mostly hearing impaired
students tried to speak the word even it was so hard for them and also
they used reading includes read the text and did speech reading or lip
reading, writing, getting sensing stimulation about the way to produce
sounds in the mouth and once they did sign language. After a long steps
to learn word, finally some of them could pronounce the words and some
of them were not. The factor that made them be like that because of the
hearing impaired students have different ability to speak.
