The purpose of the research is to find out the correlation between students’ simple present tense mastery and their ability in writing report text at grade eleven of SMK 3 Muhammadiyah Metro in academic years 2015- 2016 that consisted of 86 Students as the Population. The sample of this research was 40 students. In taking the sample the writer used random sampling technique because all number of the group has equal independent chance of being selected. The method of research which was used descriptive quantitative method. In collecting the data, the writer used the objective test in the form of multiple choice tests consisting of 50 items. To know the students’ ability in writing report text, the writer used writing test.rnThen , the writer counted the result of students’ simple present mastery and their ability in writing repot text score by using r -Product Moment formula and the writer got result rxy was 0,679. This is statistically significant because P-value is smaller than r-Product Moment at 1% and 5% (P1%:0,413
